PHP upgrade- posted by dg - on November 21 2008
We've migrated from PHP 5.1.4 to PHP 5.2.6 so a small downtime is listed in the config reports for today (0.08% which means around 10 minutes).
New server monitoring provider - posted by dg - on October 12 2008
After the whole uppanel.com fiasco, I decided it was time to get a monitoring account with a more reliable provider. I tried a few providers like siteuptime.com, wormly.com, uptimeparty.com, pingdom.com and in the end I decided to go with pingdom.com
I signed up with pingdom.com because their basic plan offer 5 different checks, 1 minute interval between checks, 20 SMS messages, a very nice public report page, and my favorite, access to Pingdom API so you can integrate all the reports, data, statistics, etc., in your own page. On top of this, I got a 70% discount (w00t!).
As soon as I get some free time I'll start coding a really nice status page, but until then, check out the default public report page in case you want to check the uptime of our server.
I would also like to thank to the people who donated, since without their help this would not be possible.
uppanel.com is gone - posted by dg - on October 12 2008
As you all probably know, Evil Hosting was using the free services provided by uppanel.com to monitor the server and provide the users and visitors with accurate uptime information of our services (http, pop, smtp, ftp).
However, today I noticed that the scripts don't work, so when I visited their site, I was surprised to see their site is gone and I got redirected to another site (justuptime.com), that doesn't give free accounts, and I have no way of getting the uptime records for the last two and a half years back.
I know they were providing a free service and they had no obligation in notifying me of the change, but still, it fu***ng sucks.
It seems it's getting harder and harder to find free services that don't vanish over the night together with all your data.
